My name is Laura Segato and I am a professional translator and interpreter specialising in law and tourism.
I completed a Degree course in Conference Interpreting (four years) at the University in Trieste in 2002 and then worked for several years mainly as a conference interpreter for numerous different clients who contracted my services for conferences, seminars and meetings, trade fairs, workshops and incentive trips. However, as time went by, my interest for written translations prevailed so I consolidated my experience in this field and finally decided to focus my professional career on translating in the two areas that have always attracted me most: Law and Tourism.
In 2016 I was awarded a First-level Specializing Master in Legal Translation by the University of Genoa. I currently translate from German and English into my mother tongue language, Italian.
I am enrolled in the Court of Venice as certified professional language consultant (CTU is the Italian acronym) for German and English.
Since 2013 I am an associate member of the Italian Association for Translators and Interpreters (AITI).
I also teach German and English, providing professional services for students of all levels. I am specialised in the technical language of tourism: I was born and raised near the sea and indeed tourism has always been part of my life. From being very young I worked in hotels, camping sites and tourist rental agencies. Because of the experience I gained over the years in the technical language of tourism and my deep knowledge of German and English, in 2012 I was recruited to teach German for Specific Purposes at the I.T.S. – Higher Technical School for Tourism in Jesolo (Venice). Moreover, since 2014 I’ve been working for the education company Ter-Servizi Confcommercio Venezia as teacher/trainer for German and English.
